Ryan Hayes is a New York based dancer, physical performer, educator, and choreographer currently performing with Pilobolus Dance Theater.

Originally from Spokane, Washington, Ryan earned his B.A. in Dance Performance with a minor in Interdisciplinary Arts from Gonzaga University before continuing his training at the Steps on Broadway Conservatory in New York , where he was awarded a scholarship during the program. While at Steps, performance highlights included works by Paul Taylor and Jerome Robbins.

Ryan joined Pilobolus in 2025 and has since performed and created with the company across the United States and internationally. His work with Pilobolus has included collaborative creation on new works such as Lamentation Variations, developed as part of the Martha Graham Dance Company’s centennial celebration, Virtuous and Vicious, as well as the company’s evening-length cabaret production.

His broader performance experience spans concert dance, theater, opera, television, and interdisciplinary work, with credits including Jazz Choreography Enterprise, Dance Harlem!, Inland Northwest Opera, Human Kinetics, and an appearance on Italy’s Tu sì que vales.

Alongside performing, Ryan is passionate about dance education and collaborative creation. He teaches contemporary and theater partnering, has taught at studios and intensives across the country, and co-created Partnering for Broadway, a New York City–based training series focused on practical partnering skills for professional and pre-professional performers.

At the center of Ryan’s work is an interest in physical storytelling, using movement, partnering, character, and collaboration to communicate in ways that extend beyond traditional dance. He is particularly interested in continuing to explore this work across live performance, theater, film and television, choreography, and movement-driven projects.
